Proxy Check

Checking your connection...

๐Ÿ” What Is a Proxy Check Test?

A Proxy Check test helps find out whether you're using the internet through a proxy server — a middleman between your device and the websites you visit.

Think of a proxy like a mask: instead of websites seeing your real IP address, they see the proxy's IP instead. This can help hide your identity, location, or activity online.

๐Ÿงช How Does the Proxy Check Work?

At Peek My IP, the proxy test checks for signs that your connection is going through a proxy. It does this in two main ways:

1. ✅ HTTP Header Test

Your browser sends certain bits of information (called headers) to every website you visit. Some of these headers are commonly added by proxy servers.

The test checks for clues in these headers. For example:

  • HTTP_VIA
  • X_FORWARDED_FOR
  • CLIENT-IP
  • PROXY-AGENT
  • HTTP_X_FORWARDED
  • HTTP_FORWARDED_FOR
  • HTTP_CLIENT_IP
  • FORWARDED_FOR_IP

If any of these are found, it's a strong hint that you're using a proxy.

๐Ÿ“Œ Note: Some advanced proxies (called elite or high anonymity proxies) don’t use these headers — so they can’t be detected this way.

2. ๐Ÿ“š IP Database Check

Some organizations collect and maintain databases of known proxy IP addresses.

The test compares your IP address against these databases, including:

  • IP2Location
  • IPQualityScore

If your IP is listed as a known proxy, the test will tell you — and may also show a fraud risk score (from 0 to 100) based on how often your IP appears in risky or anonymous behavior.

๐Ÿค” Why Might My Proxy Not Be Detected?

Even if you're using a proxy, the test might not catch it. Here's why:

  • Elite proxies are designed to hide all signs of being a proxy.
  • New or private proxy servers might not be listed in public databases yet.

So, the test is good — but not perfect. It's best for detecting common, public, or misconfigured proxies.

๐Ÿ›ก️ How Can I Hide My IP with a Proxy?

You have a few choices if you want to use a proxy to hide your IP address:

  • Web proxies (simple websites that route traffic)
  • HTTP proxies
  • SOCKS proxies
  • Premium proxy services (for better security and reliability)

You can find free proxy lists online, or subscribe to a paid service for better privacy.

๐Ÿ”’ Tip: Want stronger privacy? Consider combining proxies with other tools like VPNs or Tor for better anonymity.
